Methven Rugby's U12 are excited to be traveling 2533km to Goondiwindi in 2026. Can you help them on their way?

The Methven Rugby Club have a close relationship with the Goondiwindi Rugby Club, which is 350 km inland fromBrisbane, next to the MacIntyre River, and forms the boarder of Queensland and New South Wales. This relationship between the two rugby clubs began over 20 years ago when the Goondiwindi Golden Oldies team took part in a tournament in Methven.

One of the players saw an opportunity to bring the Goondiwindi under 12 rugby team to Methven for a week in June to play rugby and enjoy what Mid Canterbury has to offer including skiing, jet boating, hot pools, ice skating, farm visits.

In 2016 for the first time, a Methven team reciprocated and travelled to Goondiwindi where they were billeted with the families. Lifelong friendships were made as they experienced their way of life in rural Queensland which included learning about large scale farming with a highlight being the cotton production and harvest. They also played a rugby team on the Gold Coast where they spent a couple of days before returning home.

In 2026 Methven Rugby's U12 will return to Goondiwindi. Can you help them on their way?
